According to Android Authority, Dan Cobley, the Managing Director of Google UK and Google Ireland, has apologised over the lack of stock of the Nexus 4 and poor communication with customers:

" Dear all

I know that what you are going through is unacceptable and we are all working through the nights and weekends to resolve this issue. Supplies from the manufacturer are scarce and erratic, and our communication has been flawed. I can offer an unreserved apology for our service and communication failures in this process.

For those that originally received a 3-5 days shipping estimate, your orders are now in process for fulfillment. You can expect an email notification early this week which will include tracking information. Although you will be initially charged in full, you will receive a credit for the shipping charge soon after.

For others that received pre-Christmas shipping estimates, we anticipate processing your orders for fulfillment this week.

I realise that the people who ordered the Nexus 4 so early are among our most committed and loyal users and we are doing all we can to put things right.

Sorry again.

Dan"

Yes, he's laying blame on LG saying the supplies are scarce and erratic.  Google has got to be pissed.  With 8 days to go till Christmas the lack of Nexus 4 phones has got to be leaving millions on the table and more importantly tarnishing their rep.

Sorry to hear that JayJ.

Got an email late last night saying mine had been shipped - due to be delivered today, 2 weeks after I ordered it, which was what I was told at the point of ordering.

Not what you wanted to hear I know, so something drastic has happened with your order.

Hope it gets sorted soon.

Well if it's any consolation, and it won't be, I ordered 2 Nexus 4's (1 via wife's account) and the 2nd one hasn't shipped yet, even though they were ordered only 5 minutes apart.

I hope you see your's before Christmas, special delivery by Dan Cobley !!

Have you emailed/Google+ him ?? Might be worth trying to get in contact with him ??

Just rooted my Nexus 4 using mskip's Nexus 4 toolkit.

No skin off my nose, hijack away :-)

Just found that the SKY GO app don't run on a rooted device. What a PITA!

I gotta think that somewhere behind the scenes, the Google has to be really pissed off at LG and giving them a piece of their mind. (more like tearing them a new ^&*$.  It's obvious that LG just doesn't have the infrastructure in place to produce the Nexus 4 in the volumes that it needs to fill demand.  I tend to think this is the last LG Nexus device we'll see unless they get on the ball asap.   Sergey and Larry can't be too happy about this whole situation.

Apparently the folks at Technobuffalo agree:  http://www.technobuffalo.com/2012/12/18/did-google-make-a-mistake-choosing-lg-to-build-the-nexus-4/
