Nexus 4 unusable after upgrade
« on: September 21, 2013, 07:07:15 AM »
I have upgraded to Android 4.3 (and I presume this is the cause) and it completely messed up my phone. My battery lasts for four hours if I'm lucky and I have no signal indoors and wifi reception has become really poor.

What shall a simple man do?

Thanks.

I'm going to say your battery problems are probably application based. When you upgrade Android quite often Applications become unstable on the new version of Android and this can cause differing problems for people.
The other thing is dirty data or corrupt data, this c can also happen during an update and cause issues.
This may not be what you want to do but I would highly recommend a factory data reset. Starting from scratch will remove any applications that aren't compatible with Android 4.3, it will also clear any dirty or corrupt data left on your device from the update.

A factory data reset, although troublesome should be your first step when any Android device"plays" up because usually the problem can be resolved.

Personally I've been impressed with 4.3 and what it's brought to my devices.

Don't know where to put this, but I've got a dead N4 after lollipop upgrade. First I lost many apps and info, acting like a snail etc, so I factory reset. Oh, now getting message " can't communicate with google servers"  please help, I can't reactivate my phone.

Firstly, for anyone interested, I solved this problem by using fqrouter application and circumventing the Great China Firewall, for anyone in China, be careful about factory reset, you might not get back to Google servers to reactivate.
On another point, so many gliches with Lollipop, camera, Pics, lagging, my N7 music player doesn't work. My N4 is terrible, why do Google insist on fixing things that aren't broken? And why is it so difficult to contact them when things go wrong? Seems to me, they push these updates and then let the android community sort out the problems? Their customer service is non existent, not even an email address. Are we all just being blindly loyal to a company who have NP interest in their customers? I can see the point for those interested in routing but for the rest it seems futile. In China I have never seen another Nexus user, Apple is God here, it just works. This sadly will be my last Nexus phone, I just want something that works. I have 2 N7s 2nd gen. I have not updated from kit Kat, they work great.
